Camels and Botox?

Did you know that there is an annual beauty competition for camels in Saudi Arabia called the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival? It’s a big deal! The most beautiful camels in the whole region compete for prizes for their humans that total $66 million! I didn’t know anything about it until yesterday when news broke that many of the camels were disqualified because their humans were injecting them with Botox. Botox and Camels - what?!?!

It’s true! But here’s the more amazing thing; earlier in the day, I had read a blog from a spiritual teacher I follow, Matthew Fox. He said in times of darkness (both literally and figuratively), we should be like the Camel and fill up our reserves with love and light. And, seeing how the camel plays a role in a number of religions’ stories that are popular this time of year - the metaphor really stuck with me.

And, as you know, I am all about synchronicity. So when the Universe shows me a certain kind of animal in various places over a short period of time, I realize there is more there that needs to be heard and understood. When I saw the camels in the news for Botox after reading about them earlier, I knew I had to hear their message and share it with you!

This is what they had to say:

“When you saw us earlier today in Mr. Fox’s post, it was a spiritual message - filling ourselves with the Divine to prepare ourselves for this time of rest and renewal. The camel competition is a reminder that we need to fill ourselves with positive information AND honor ourselves for who we are - not fill ourselves with botox (symbolically) for a competition where others judge us on merits defined by yet another group of judges. We are all one. And beauty is in everyone. No need to enhance it - just let it shine as it needs to shine - as it was intended to shine! You are full of light! You are the camel of light! Use the light as you need to, as you go along in your day and don’t be afraid to share it with whomever you want and with everyone. Because some day - someone’s light may be dim and could use some refreshing. Just as you may need the same from someone on another day. Be the camel - fill up your light with your own brightness and beauty and serve the world with it as you were intended. And don’t worry about how others see you - just be the most beautiful camel you already are.”

Shine on my wise, Camel friends! Fill your reserves to share your light with the world!

Hello Gorgeous! You being of Divine Light, you!
