Me and the Moose

I am terrified of moose.

When I first came to Alaska, wanting to be closer to nature, I didn’t think much about moose. Then I adopted my dog Lukas. He hates moose. He barks at every one he sees. Even on TV. Dog walks became a frightening chore because he would spot them, bark at them, run up to them, exposing both of us to what some consider the most dangerous animal in the state.

Shortly after Lukas’ arrival, my intuitive abilities began to grow. And of course the first animal who presented himself to me was Lukas. He immediately told me the moose were actually trying to help me. They were working with Lukas to help me re-gain my self-esteem and voice that I had lost through a series of bad bosses. The moose would tell me that I had gifts to share and that I needed to celebrate these gifts. They convinced me it was time to embrace my connection with nature and encouraged me to share it with all because in nature, we find growth and healing.

While I still see moose, it’s not as frequent as before. But they continue to teach me to celebrate my abilities and share my joy of life with all I meet.

As a side note, Lukas revealed to me that he barked at moose to alert me to their message. Now, he is better with moose on our lovely walks. He warns me of their presence so we don’t inadvertently startle one. He sticks with me so we can give them wide berth. Animal communication has deepened our relationship on so many levels. Working with nature and her messages has helped both of us find new paths to explore.
